Welcome to the Challacombe Community Association Site

This site is a collection of archives and photographic records that has been collected over the years from different sources. There are sections devoted to local history, location, business, photographic galleries and many more. The website is owned and maintained by the Challacombe Community Association. We hope you find the content of these pages both interesting and informative.

The Challacombe Panorama requires downloading a plug-in to view it. Get the plug-in here

Dreadful weather but once again great support from Challacombe and beyond that resulted in the village restoring the fabled urn to its rightful place and in the event raising £633.00 for The Devon Air Ambulance Trust. Trying times these but we have been greatly supported by businesses and individuals alike. Many thanks to all those who helped this match happen despite the elements.

Excerpt of Register of Events in Holy Trinity Nov 1854 to July 1895.

Births, Weddings and Burials records as kept by John Howe Barrow when he was Parish Clerk in Challacombe. The original of the Notebook is in the possession of Bernie Knill, a direct descendant of John Howe Barrow through JHB's daughter Charity Ann Barrow who married William Thomas Knill of Barnstaple in 1868. We are indebted to Bernie Knill and Ron Tucker for this.
